Nov. 2013 – A group of Experimental Library UiTM Puncak Perdana with 25
students and 1 lecturer was successful build one system to the library of Surau
Al-Furqan, Puncak Alam. The activities that has been done is key-in data in system,
barcode system, book tagging, arrange the book and magazine to shelve according
to subject related.
This activity was takes 6 sessions. It start with arrange
the book to shelve and tagging the book by color on 4 -5 October
2013 and it was followed to next weekend to finish the work. This program was
conducted by Nur Izzati as a leader for this program and Mr. Amzari as lecturer
also was helping the students in finish key-in the data. This program was introduced for this “surau”.
So that it have a good system to monitor the movement of the library materials.
It makes the librarian easy to detect the library materials either it is
missing or borrow by their user. So that, the librarian easy to do their work
than before they are using manual system if the user want to borrow the library
materials. Certain of the library materials were donated by people that live
around the “surau” and there is also books and magazine that the library buys
for children reading.
The program was launched by Ustaz Haji Zakaria Bin
Mustafa, president of Surau Al-Furqan and he is also one of UiTM lecturer that
teaching CTU Subject at UiTM Puncak Perdana and Puncak Alam. Experimental
Library has invited Dr. Wan Abdul Kadir Bin Wan Dollah as VVIP yesterday. The
lecturer and president Surau Al-Furqan was introduced the system to him to show
how the systems work for the library future. The system that was used is KOHA
and nowadays, many libraries use the system to keep the all library data.
